Hayleys opens South Asia’s largest Aluminium factory

One of Sri Lanka’s leading diversified conglomerates, Hayleys PLC is set to expand the production of Aluminium extrusions in a big way with the opening of a world class largest factory in the South Asian region recently.

Hayleys invested over Rs.2 billion to set up this modern state of the art factory of its subsidiary Alumex PLC to upgrade manufacturing infrastructure and technology constantly supplying unique combinations of aluminum profiles, Hayleys PLC, Mohan Pandithage disclosed.

Addressing a media round table attended by editors and senior journalists of leading print media in Colombo on Friday, he said that the demand for aluminum extrusions has continued to surge in line with the expansion of the country’s construction sector.

The continued expansion in the country’s construction sector has helped the sales growth of Alumex Group, which has a market share of over 53 per cent, he told the Business Times on the sidelines of the media round table.

The company is performing well with rapid growth in the construction sector, in the face of challenges posed by ever increasing Chinese and Indian Aluminium products, he revealed.

The performance of the Alumex Company improved considerably during 2018/18 year in comparison with that of the previous financial year recording a turnover of Rs.451.6 million, a growth of 282 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year.

Building on a strong momentum over the final quarter of the financial year 2017/18, Hayleys PLC Group has achieved a record breaking top-line performance as revenue expanded by 47 per cent Year –on –Year to Rs.163.2 billion during the three months to March 31 2018, he said. (Bandula)
